Our Leathers

The Authentic Punchbag Leather Collection:

We understand that open grain aniline hides are not suitable for all, so we’ve scoured tanneries far and wide to bring you a leather that’s suitably family friendly while still holding as much of a soft waxy feel as possible. Using a special tanning process the punchbag range is able to provide all the attributes of a semi-aniline leather but with the durability of a pigmented hide.

The leathers are designed to allow the natural variations of the leather to show through the finished coat. Leather is a natural product and the uniqueness of each hide is identified on occasion by; growth marks, bite marks, scars, variations in grain and other natural characteristics, which add to the beauty of real leather and do not indicate deficiencies in the quality but are hallmarks of a truly authentic and natural product.

The Authentic Tumbled, Silken and Texan Leather Collections:

The most attractive and natural leathers which are prized for their soft natural feel. These are leathers which have been aniline dyed with no colour coating added to the surface. They are the most expensive leathers to produce because only the very best selection of hides can be used.

Our Tumbled, Silken and Texan collections are all full aniline leathers and are tanned to ensure a pleasing finish. Without any correction this open grain leather has a superior soft and warm feel, making it the prefect leather for comfort.

Natural Characteristics inherent in full grain leather

Full grain leather means that the top layer of the hide is preserved throughout the tanning process. The top layer (as with our own skin) is exposed to the elements throughout the animals life and therefore is the most hard-wearing layer of any leather hide. By using the full grain, all of the natural scars and marks inherent in the leather are still visible in the finish product. Below are some examples of the common natural markings that you can expect to find. Remember this is a natural product and each leather hide is complete unique.
